
Maine Women’s Hockey Falls to #8 Northeastern 3-1 Friday
The Maine Women's Hockey Team fell to the #8 Northeastern Huskies 3-1 on Friday night at the Alfond.
The Huskies jumped out to a 1-0 lead, scoring with just 35 seconds gone. They then added a power play 3:03 later to take a 2-0 lead.
Maine killed off a 5 minute major in the 3rd period, and with other penalties, played down 5-3 for nearly 4 minutes.
That's the way the score remained until Northeastern scored an empty-netter with 2:12 left to play to make it 3-0.
With 1:27 left to play, Maine finally lit the lamp, on a goal by Mikayla Boarder, assisted by Paige Fong and Ali Altiman.
Northeastern was 1-8 on the power play, generating 12 shots. Maine was 0-2.
Northeastern outshot Maine 35-28
Kiia Lahtinen had 32 saves for Maine.
Northeastern is now 11-2-0 and 8-0-0 in Hockey East.
Maine is 4-9-1 overall and 2-4-1 in Hockey East.
