NCAA Football: Husson Gets RPI In First Round
The Husson University football team is heading to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York for their first round NCAA Division III playoff game.
The Eagles gathered Sunday evening to watch the Selection Show. Only 32 teams make the D-III postseason party. Husson playing in that party for the third straight year and fourth out of five years.
Husson finished as ECFC champ and an overall 8-2 record. RPI won the Liberty League and finished 8-1. The two schools have never met on the gridiron. They do have one common opponent - Union College. The Eagles lost to them on opening day while the Engineers lost to Union on Saturday in the season finale.
In the most recent NCAA regional rankings, while Husson was not in the top 10 in the East Region, RPI was #3.
The game will be played at East Campus Stadium in New York. It is a multi-purpose stadium that seats 5,200.
