The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) Engineers end the Husson Eagles football season, beating the Eagles 38-14 in the first round of the NCAA Division III playoffs.

Husson year ends with an 8-3 record. The 9-1 Engineers moved on to the second round of the playoffs.

With the game tied at 7-7, the Engineers scored a touchdown on a 34-yard pass play as time expired in the first half that gave them a 14-7 lead and it seems the Eagles could never recover.

RPI scored a touchdwon and two field goals in the third quarter to make it 24-7 after three.

With 7:30 to play in the game, Husson's Quan Soyini ran back an 82-yard punt return to bring the Eagles close at 24-14. It was the third punt return TD for Soyini.

The Engineers picked off two Cory Brandon passes late in the game and turned both into touchdowns to win the game 38-14.

The Engineers outgained the Eagles 446 to 336.

Brandon finished his brilliant career throwing 30-for-44, 288 yards, a TD and two interceptions.

Keyshaun Robinson and Kyle Gaudet both caught nine passes.

Meice Loureiro had just 50 yards as the leading rusher.

Senior Elvin Suazo finished his career with 13 tackles.

The playoff game marks the end of Husson football representing the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference. The Eagles move into the Commonwealth Coast Conference next year.
