North Carolina's Steven Saleeby made the most of his first trip to Maine by winning the Downeast Metro Amateur Golf Tournament at Bangor Muni Sunday afternoon.

And what's more, he needed to sink a four-foot putt on the 18th hole to secure the victory over Portland's John Hayes.

Saleeby was in Maine at the invitation of his former college golf teammate, Reece McFarlane. Both played for the University of North Carollina-Wilmington. McFarlane fnished in 19th place.

Saleeby fired a 2-under par 69 to go along with his 73 at Kebo Valley Golf Course on Saturday for a tournament total of 142.
