UM Men Fall Again (1-9), Women Win 72-58

While the UMaine men's basketball team was losing at Providence, the women's team was scoring a win at the Cross Center in Bangor. The Friars sent the Black Bear men to 1-9 with a 94-70 win. The Black Bear women beat Towson 72-58.

In the men's game, Maine got out rebounded 46-23 and wound up giving 30 second chance points. Providence also scored 21 points off Black Bear turnovers. All of that negated Maine's 50% shooting from the floor.

Kadeem Batts and Bryce Cotton combined for 44 of their 94 points.

Maine was led by Zarko Valjarevic with 16 and Xavier Pollard with 15.

The Bears fall to 1-9 and won't play again until December 29th. Providence is an impressive 10-2.

The UMaine women broke a three game losing skid with the home win over Towson. The Bears had nine players in the scoring column, led by Lauren Bodine with 15. Liz Wood had 10 and 10 rebounds. Maine also had a season high 25 assists.

The Bears improve to 6-5 and are off until December 29th.
