The University of Maine men‘s ice hockey team was selected to finish last in the Hockey East media poll that was released over the weekend.

th place in the poll conducted by media members and broadcasters that serve the teams of the Hockey East conference.  UMaine garnered just 57 total votes, putting them three votes behind UMass for 10th.  Boston University was selected as the top team with 13 out of 25 first place votes, followed by Providence, UMass Lowell, Northeastern, and Boston College in the top five.

No UMaine players were also picked as all-conference pre-season players in the poll, as three out of the seven spots were occupied by Northeastern Huskies.    Maine posted a record of 5-15-2 in league play last season and had a mark of 11-21-4 overall.  They finished in 11th place overall out of 12 teams in the Hockey East standings.

The Black Bears will start the season on Sunday versus Acadia in an exhibition match-up and will play their first regular season game on October 6th versus UConn.
