UMass Dartmouth quarterback Stephen Gacioch threw for 512 yards and five touchdowns as the Cosairs beat the Husson Eagles 48-41 in overtime Saturday afternoon.

It was the season opener for the Eagles and the head coaching debut for Nat Clark.

The fifth TD throw by Gacioch came on the first possession of overtime. It was a 23 yard pass to Abbi Bamgbose.

The Eagles could not score on their possession, ending a wild non-conference shootout.

From the start of the game to the end of the third quarter, Husson took the lead only to have UMass Dartmouth come back in score five times.

Eagles QB David Morrison had a strong debut, throwing for 339 yards and 5 TDs. Four of them went to TE Aidan Hogan. Tyler Halls caught the other TD pass and he finished with 13 catches for 185 yards.

Shawn Noel Jr. ran the ball for 99 yards for the Eagles.

The total offense numbers, UMass Dartmouth with 580 yards and Husson with 401.

The Cosairs are now 2-0.
