The Brewer Witches earned a baseball/softball sweep of arch rival Bangor Monday afternoon, leaving both Brewer teams unbeaten in the early season.

At Mansfield Stadium, sophomore righty Anthony Chiappone threw a complete game four-hit shutout as the Witches beat the Rams 2-0 in battle of two state championship teams from a year ago.

Chiappone walked three and struck out three.

Brewer scored one run in the second inning on a sacrifice fly from Kaleb Bryant and a fifth inning RBI hit from Trevor Pearson.

The Witches improve to 2-0 in Class B North. The Rams drop to 1-2 in Class A North.

At Bangor HS, Libby Hewes got the win in the circle as Brewer beat the Rams 9-5. Libby also started a big three run second inning with a RBI hit.

Kenzie Dore followed with a RBI hit and Becca Gideon added a RBI double.

Brewer improves to 3-0 and holds a 23 game win streak dating back to the start of last season.

Bangor drops to 2-1.
