Jones,Alvarez Advance In Match Play

Rockland's Rick Jones and former Husson golfer Joe Alvarez are two of the eight players remaining in the field of 32 for the Maine Match Play Championship. Bangor golfer Drew Powell lost his match in the round of 16.

Ricky Jones won his match against John Hayes(Prouts Neck CC). It took 21 holes to score the victory.

Powell lost 8 and 6 to Scott Sirois(Woodlands Club).

Alavarez defeated Tommy Stirling(Sable Oaks GC) 2 up.

The quaterfinals and semi-finals will be played at Sable Oaks GC. The two man championship match takes place Thursday.
