Caribou's Austin Findlen has been named First National Bank High School Athlete of the Week after helping lead his team to its first state title in fifty years.

Findlen, Caribou’s only senior starter during the 2018-19 season, scored a team-high 13 points as the Vikings defeated the Cape Elizabeth Capers, 49-47, in double overtime.

The captain made several key plays for the Vikings in the final minutes of regulation, including hitting a three-pointer and a pair of free throws.

Findlen came up big for the Vikings throughout the tournament, reaching double figures in scoring in all three of Caribou's matchups during the final three rounds of the tournament.

Other nominees this week included Damien Vance and Matt Fleming of Bangor, Sydney Brewer of Southern Aroostook and Parker Desjardins of Forest Hills.
