Lawrence’s Alex Higgins Wins Athlete Of The Week Honors
Alex Higgins of Lawrence has been named First National Bank Athlete of the Week after rushing for 141 yards and three touchdowns in the Bulldogs' win against Skowhegan last weekend.
It was a tight race, with Higgins (26.95 percent) barely picking up more votes than Damon Warren (26.56 percent) of the Sumner soccer team.
Higgins helped lead the Bulldogs past the Indians Friday night at Keyes Field, 44-26.
His 4-yard touchdown run gave Lawrence a 30-20 lead with 10:00 left in the third quarter. His 10-yard score put the Bulldogs ahead 37-26 with 2:24 left in the third.
In addition to Warren, other nominees this week included Jaime Skinner of the Nokomis field hockey team, Alex Brown of the Mattanawcook football team and Nick Brewer of the Houlton golf team.
Other Athlete of the Week winners from the 2018 fall sports season include Hermon's Wyatt Gogan, MDI's Elijah Joyce, Winslow's Alex Demers, Hermon's Garrett Trask, Alex Costedio of Nokomis and Wyatt Harvey of Houlton.
